For many, the prospect of taking up a new technical challenge can be daunting. The purpose of this workshop is to get the prospective microscopist over the proverbial hump.

The workshop, led by Paul Sadowski, will include an introduction to optics, the mechanical workings of the microscope and the preparation of specimens for examination. We’ll start with slime molds before moving on to agarics, a few ascomycetes, and some polypores.

In addition to Paul there will be a few veteran microscopists on hand to help individuals work through any problems that may arise. We expect that each student will leave with a new found confidence to brace them for their journey with the microscope.
