The boreal forest


It is a dense forest essentially dominated by coniferous trees, especially balsam fir and black spruce. One can also find white
spruce and, in the southern part, tamarack and jack pine. The deciduous trees include white birch and trembling aspen.

Mosses and shrubs make up the understory.
There are few herbaceous plants. The trees grow close together and form a dense closed forest.

As for the fauna, you may see moose, black bear, wolf, lynx, red fox, beaver, marten, mink, mountain hare (that turn white in winter),....
